Willi Cannell grew up on the Maine coast. When he wasn't exploring his father's classic wooden boat shop, he was sailing on the deep blue. Willi has always had an awe and respect for the powerful freedom found in our wild environs.

When he was 10, Willi's family relocated to Idaho where he was introduced to outdoor leadership at The Community School, and he has been attached to Idaho's wilderness ever since. He started guiding in the Frank Church Wilderness while attending college at St. Lawrence University, and has remained there ever since.

Willi and his girlfriend Kat enjoy traveling the world, but central Idaho will always be home. The majesty of this beautiful area helped them discover a slogan: 'You live and you learn...to stay in Idaho.'

 

Willi is an avid paraglider, backcountry skier, sportsman, historian, and explorer. In the winter months, Willi coaches at the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation as an alpine ski racing coach.
